The Harry Potter magic returns in new Fantastic Beasts trailer
The first trailer for Harry Potter film prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which stars Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne, has dropped. It’s safe to say we’re just a smidge over-excited.
In the first teaser trailer for the film, which is set in the world of Harry Potter some 65 years prior to the Voldemort-fighting schoolboy, there is mostly a lot of mysterious shadows and dramatic text. We do get a hint as to what the plot of the films might be about however, and by hint, I mean giant smack in the face of plot.
The trailer begins with a casting of a lumos spell, which lights up our surroundings to see Katherine Waterston’s Tina Goldstein with a big case (not dissimilar from the very important case we’ve seen Redmayne’s Newt Scamander sporting). She admits to some sort of American court: “Yesterday a wizard entered New York with a case… a case full of magical creatures.”
The killer line: “Unfortunately, some have escaped.”
The Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is not just a film titled after the textbook written by Scamander in Harry’s time, but the literal plot of the film. We’re going to be finding fantastic beasts in America.
We also get our first glimpse of what we expect will be sheer adorability from Newt Scamander, as he examines his suitcase.
“It was open?” asks Tina in fear.
“Just a smidge.”
