Strictly Come Dancing faces fix allegations after claims Aston Merrygold is marked down on purpose
Strictly fans are wondering if the BBC dancing competition is all set up after claims that the judges are altering the marks to prevent certain contestants from taking the lead.
Former Strictly Come Dancing professionals James and Ola Jordan have suggested certain dancers are not receiving genuine scores on the show, most obviously being contestant Aston Merrygold.
Discussing the JLS singer’s performance over the weekend, James told The Sun: “Aston’s dance was full of brilliant lifts and tricks.
“But the judges twist scores. Someone does an amazing performance and they don’t want them to run away with it.”
He continued: “They did it with Danny Mac last year. I get irate about it.
“It’s meant to be about teaching someone who’s not danced before. You won’t see a Darren Gough or Mark Ramprakash win again.”
Meanwhile, Holby City actress Chizzy Akudolu became the first celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2017 this weekend after failing to impress the judges with her Foxtrot routine.
Speaking about her time on the programme, Chizzy said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported. And this guy… this dude, I have loved every minute dancing with him and it will continue because I will just be going round his house to dance now.
“But I don’t have his address so if anyone could email me I would appreciate it! And thank you to the judges for the constructive criticism which I will take on board. Thank you.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6:45pm on BBC One.
