John Barrowman reveals fantasy Torchwood and Arrow storylines
John Barrowman has revealed what he would include in a hypothetical Torchwood movie to fans at London’s Heroes and Villains Convention.
When asked by a very young member of the audience at his panel on Saturday morning what he’d like a Torchwood film to be about, he quickly replied: “You haven’t seen Torchwood, have you? No. I didn’t think so. Come back when you’re 13.”
Laughing, he answered the question nonetheless: “What I would like to do for a Torchwood movie because it’s one of my favourite villains… when I was growing up in Scotland – I loved the Cybermen. I’ve already fought Daleks. I would love to fight Cybermen, and I know we had a little Cyber experience on Torchwood but I would write a whole episode – a whole movie about Cybermen.”
As well as answering questions on Captain Jack Harkness, the role he is most famous for playing on Doctor Who and spin-off Torchwood, Barrowman also fielded questions on Arrow, on which he portrayed Malcolm (aka The Dark Archer) for five seasons.
Asked what he would do if he was in charge of the new season of Arrow, Barrowman said: “Well, besides getting my hand back, I’d like to do something where Malcolm’s able to do something that brings him so he doesn’t need to hide anymore – either comes out and goes to jail for a little while, does his time for the bad he’s done to Tommy. I know, poor Tommy. To do that and then come back to Star City and help all of them.”
Heroes and Villains Con takes place May 27-28 at Kensington Olympia in London.
