REVIEW: The Real Housewives of Sydney is every reality TV fan’s dream
If you love watching drama, drink throwing and cat fights, The Real Housewives of Sydney is definitely going to be your new TV obsession.
The reality show continues on Lifetime tonight at 9pm and follows the life of the richest and most ruthless housewives in Sydney, Australia, focussing on their personal and professional ventures and lending viewers an intimate insight into their lavish lifestyles. Think Made In Chelsea, but less awkward pauses and a lot more botox.
The show’s stars are Victoria, Nicole, Athena X, Lisa, Melissa, Krissy and Matty; all genuine housewives living in Sydney and all of whom are not afraid to speak their mind. And throughout the course of the show we meet their husbands, their families, and learn about their backgrounds.
Being a housewife, we discover, is a serious matter. The ladies’ beauty regimes are a strong focus of the show, and one can’t help but be impressed by the sheer dedication to their image. Victoria, for instance, shares her gruelling routine, which includes regular botox injections, having her hair washed and blowdried twice a week (she “never” washes her own hair), going to the gym every morning and getting skin laser treatment every six months. Phew.
The show is worth watching for the comedy value alone. Some of the one-liners the housewives come out with are truly fantastic. In fact, here are some of the finest quotes from episode four, which airs tonight at 9pm:
“My lips may be fake but they always speak the truth.”
“The importance of hand washing a cashmere jumper – these are the things you need to be teaching your children!”
“Oh, Jesus Christ. She’s wearing a cape again.”
“Panos and I have never had sex. We only make love.”
“I can walk in heels. Definitely can’t do the flippers.”
“80% vegan. 80% serial killer. I don’t know what she is!”
In tonight’s episode, the housewives all jet off on a luxury holiday for some much needed fun in the sun. However, the trip is far from the relaxing vacation they anticipated, as Lisa struggles to deal with her broken marriage, Athena rubs everyone up the wrong way, and one of the girls almost drowns. Yes, you’re in for a good one.
Make sure to tune in to The Real Housewives of Sydney every Tuesday at 9pm on Lifetime.
