Miaow! The top 10 bitchiest ladies on TV and film
There’s nothing we like better than a girl with bite, and boy can these bitches bite. There’s nothing a teen TV drama or chick flick movie loves more than a villainous girl stealing the limelight to deliver a few verbal punches. Let’s be honest, they always get the best lines.
Blair Waldorf – Gossip Girl
One of the cattiest dramas on TV anyway, Blair still easily takes the (self-appointed) crown of Queen bitch. One of the nastiest things you’ll find in the Upper East Side, Miss Waldorf is a force to be reckoned with, destroying lesser mortals in mere seconds. When it comes to the big guns, she’s not shy either, as demonstrated in her ruthless take down of Georgina.
Regina George – Mean Girls
She’s so mean they put it in the title. Regina has it all: the money, the car, the boys, the blonde hair, the popularity and the innate need to be better than everyone else. All of this and the fact she’s a teen in high school adds up to ensure we get non-stop bitchiness from this blonde bombshell. Don’t fret though, she gets her comeuppance in true mean girl style.
Summer Roberts – The OC
Possibly the tamest addition to this list, Summer Roberts is the perfect bad girl turned good story. The typical “hot” high school girl, Summer started life on the show as a bitchy, materialistic and ditzy character – simply an object of fantasy for geeky guy Seth. Whilst we loved seeing her soften into one half of our favourite Orange County couple, she had some of he best put downs going including this gem about Ryan: “He better be real sick. Like dead. Cause if he isn’t I’m gonna strangle him with his wifebeater.”
Marianne Bryant – Easy A
Good girl Marianne had to make this list just for the sheer irony of Amanda Bynes playing this holier-than-thou character in her last film before her major public breakdown. Crazy antics aside, this new take on the stereotypical mean girl is refreshing and hilarious. Bible basher Marianne has it in for supposed “slut” Olive and channels her mean energy into some intense praying.
Angelica – Rugrats
The youngest lady to grace our list, she still manages to dole out the insults like she’s giving out free candy. Angelica Pickles is the spoilt 3-year-old cousin of protagonist Tommy. Her hobbies include sucking up to her parents and making life hell for the “dumb babies”.
Helga – Hey Arnold!
The ever angry Helga – not helped by that monobrow – may have been masking her love for “football head” Arnold, but she sure did a good job of it. She was the kid at school who fancied you and demonstrated this by pulling your hair. Only in private would Helga’s bully exterior drop and her true passion for Arnold rise to the surface.
Lisa Vanderpump – The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
We conceivably could have chosen any of the real housewives – globally – to make this list. There’s just something about Lisa’s sultry British drawl that adds a whole layer of molten mean to her insults. Known as the Queen of the Beverly Hills housewives, she is not at all afraid to dish out the dirty truth and let the other wives know when they’ve crossed a line.
Cordelia Chase – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The perfect foil for Buffy, Cordelia takes on the role of the vain but popular cheerleader who takes some convincing before accepting the existence of the supernatural. Reluctantly joining Buffy and her crew, she struggles to help them without throwing in a catty comment every other sentence. For long-standing Buffy fans, Cordelia does eventually redeem herself and becomes a loved part of the team… but it’s so much more fun to hate her.
Sue Sylvester – Glee
Expertly portrayed by Jane Lynch, Sue is the cheerleading coach at William McKinley High School and takes delight in making everyone around her feel terrible. Her arch-nemesis is Will Schuester, director of the Glee Club, and receiver of the majority of Sue’s put downs. You might want to make note of these insults, as they are world class.
Patsy – Absolutely Fabulous
If only Sue and Patsy could have met; they either would have been best friends or would have been the best sparring partners we’ve ever seen. Patsy – full name “Eurydice Colette Clytemnestra Dido Bathsheba Rabelais Patricia Cocteau Stone” – is the chain-smoking, alcoholic, nymphomaniac best friend of Eddy Monsoon. She takes a rather blunt approach to bitchiness and just says it like it is with Eddy’s daughter Saffy often taking the brunt of most of these tirades. If you feel you need to toughen up a bit, sit back and learn from the master mistress.
