Mass cull of US programming hits UK channels
A particularly merciless cancellations season in the US has hit several dramas and comedies acquired for release in the UK. Amongst the big losers are E4 and Sky, who have both seen three of their US acquisitions face the chop.
As we previously reported on TVDaily.com, The Mindy Project has been officially cancelled by Fox. However, it’s not all doom and news, as Hulu may yet breathe life into the sitcom.
Other E4 acquisitions, Revenge and Marry Me, look unlikely to be so lucky. Revenge ran for four acclaimed seasons on ABC while Marry Me survived only one on NBC.
Sky has taken big hits with the loss of The Following, Forever and Stalker. The Following had run for three seasons and the FBI drama received positive reviews in its first two seasons. However, the third season premiere failed to reach half of the viewers watching the first two season premieres, signalling the beginning of turbulent times for the crime drama.
Meanwhile, Resurrection and Constantine will not return for new seasons on Watch and Amazon Prime Instant Video.
