Mario Falcone is returning to the cast of The Only Way Is Essex
Former The Only Way Is Essex star Mario Falcone is making a comeback to the series this year.
In 2015, playboy Mario quit the Essex-based reality show after staying for a massive 14 series.
He explained at the time: “I have had a great time on TOWIE and relished the many opportunities the show has given me but after 14 series…
“I feel it is time to move on and explore something new.”
Just two years after calling it a day, Mario is now reportedly returning to the show. According to The Sun newspaper, Mario will be back for the latest series this year on ITVBe.
A source informed the newspaper: “Mario has been quite keen to come back for a while and TOWIE have invited him back to film the odd cameo and will use him where story permits.”
The news of his return may seem surprising given some of Mario’s recent digs at the series and its cast.
Speaking about TOWIE last year, Mario revealed: “I have mixed feelings on the last series. I heard it wasn’t as good. Judging by my Twitter, a lot of people think it’s on its last legs.”
He continued: “I don’t think anyone can relate to the new cast. They’re very young and very bitchy. It’s a very different show to what I’m on.”
Mario even went as far as to brand some of his former co-stars “a***holes”.
He said to The Sun newspaper: “It shows who your real friends are when you step away from it.
“The ones who stay in contact are your friends and the ones who don’t seem to bother unless they see you at an event and they kiss your a**e, they’re not really your friends.”
Mario won’t be up to his usual promiscuous antics when he returns to the show as he is now happily with girlfriend Becky Miesner, who apparently has no interest in the limelight.
The Only Way Is Essex will return this March to ITVBe.
