Love Island 2017 set to be longer than ever after bosses extend series
Love Island fans will now have even more drama, challenges and steamy scenes to look forward to after ITV2 bosses decided to extend this year’s series by a week.
The Sun reports that show producers want to allow contestants an even better chance at finding love, as well as giving fans a whole extra seven days worth of viewing material.
A source said: “Due to the massive success of last year’s series among viewers, bosses have decided to extend the current one by a week.
“They hope this will give contestants a greater chance of finding love and lead to more summer loving than ever before.”
In addition, the series will also introduce a star-studded panel who will be on hand to have a good old gossip and cover all of the action in the villa. They will share their opinions live on a weekly programme filmed in a UK studio and will receive the inside scoop from any contestants voted off the island.
2016 Love Island contestant Zara Holland recently gave this year’s contestants some words of wisdom ahead of the summer season on ITV2.
She said: “The new contestants should just be themselves, if they want to go in there and find a relationship, great.
“But don’t think you are going to meet anyone because you really might not.
“Then again, you might find the love of your life – go in with an open mind, and just have fun.”
Reminiscing over her own Love Island experience, Zara explained: “I mean I would have thought I would have met someone, and at least have had a successful date. But I didn’t!”
She told The Sun newspaper: “The new series is coming out soon, so I am really, really excited about that.
“It will be very strange watching from the TV side and not in there.
“To think I went in there a year ago, in three weeks, is crazy.”
Love Island will return this summer to ITV2.
