Lesley Joseph leaves Strictly Come Dancing
Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph is the latest celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.
Joseph and professional dance partner Anton Du Beke found themselves in the dance-off with fashion model Daisy Lowe and Aljaz Skorjanec after the voting results were counted during Sunday night’s (October 23) show.
However, the pair’s Tango to “Whatever Lola Wants” was unanimously deemed inferior to Lowe and Skorjanec’s Tango to “Happy Feet” by the Strictly judges and Joseph left the competition.
Craig Revel Horwood said: “I love both couples for completely different reasons, but for me tonight just for precision [and] for an improved performance in this particular dance-off and finishing on time. The couple I’d like to save: Daisy and Aljaz.”
Darcey Bussell said the decision was “very difficult” and that both couples should not have been in the dance-off, however ultimately she chose to echo Revel Horwood by saving Daisy and Aljaz.
Bruno Tonioli added: “Well I love both of these girls for many different reasons – they’re gorgeous, look at them! But I have to really choose the stronger dance in every aspect, technique and performance. And for that reason I’m choosing Daisy and Aljaz.”
Head Judge Len Goodman, who only votes in the dance-off when the first three disagree over who to send home, said he agreed with the decision to send Joseph and Skorjanec home.
Joseph took the news in her stride however, laughing and showcasing more of her wonderful friendship with professional partner Du Beke in a heartfelt goodbye to the show: “I think learning a new dance every week has just been lovely. Working with [Du Beke] has been an absolute joy. We’ve laughed a lot. It’s just been a lovely lovely lovely journey. And it’s come to an end and that’s absolutely fine – we’ve loved it.”
