Kevin Spacey To Adapt New White House-Themed Drama
House of Cards creator Kevin Spacey is set to adapt New York Times bestseller The Residence by Kate Anderson Brower. His production company, Fox 21, has just won the rights to the highly acclaimed novel.
It will be produced for cable by Spacey and Trigger Street’s Dana Brunetti.
The series is already being described by news outlets as an American “Downton Abbey.” Fans of the book will know that it focuses both on the lives of politicians and members of staff at the White House, similar to the upstairs and downstairs dynamic of our favourite British period drama.
However, Brower’s agent has been quick to dispel the suggestion that House of Cards 2.0 is in the works, saying Brower is determined that the “integrity of the characters and their stories are reflected.”
