It’s Confirmed! Chris Pine is going into Wonder Woman
After months of speculation over who would pick up the illusive role, Chris Pine is confirmed to be starring opposite Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman.
Only a few months ago, it was rumoured that the Star Trek actor had begun talks for the unclarified Steve Trevor role, reportedly in competition with Scott Eastwood. Currently, plot and character details are still under wraps, but if Pine’s role is anything like the source material, he looks set to take on some sort of military figure with a penchant for peril in the comic book adaptation.
While Patty Jenkins is confirmed to direct the feature and Pine is set to work alongside Gadot – who will be introduced as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – it as of yet remains unclear as to who will pine after who (pun intended).
Additionally, it is also worth noting that Pine’s contract is believed to be a multi-year deal, suggesting that the Steve Trevor role could be called back and involved in sequels, though the character is so far only confirmed to appear with Gadot come June 23, 2017, in the solo film.
Arguably, the news is truly good news because Pine’s involvement also means that the Jack Ryan star, who has been able to share the action spotlight in movies like Star Trek and the upcoming Z for Zachariah, will complement, not overshadow, Wonder Woman in her first solo movie.
