Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke discuss incest scene in season 7 finale
Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke have opened up about that incest scene in the season seven finale this week.
The final episode of season seven was full of revelation and surprises, the most important of which was the confirmation that Daenerys and Jon are indeed related. Of course, in typical Game of Thrones style the information is revealed by Bran Stark and Sam Tarly at the exact moment the two characters start getting it on.
Which means Jon Snow just had sex with his aunt… eesh.
Speaking to ET about the sex scene Dany actress Emilia Clarke said: “For us, as actors, it’s just weird. The reality of what they are to each other, I don’t know how that’s going to… I think [gags] might be the reaction.”
Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, added: “I think they both know it’s wrong. I think they both know it’s going to cause problems.
“But it’s that thing, when you suddenly feel that deeply about someone and you go through those events together, it’s like a runaway train. You can’t stop it from happening.”
Another point of discussion in regards to the incest scene has been what Tyrion Lannister’s reaction was all about. As the two leaders left for the bedroom, Tyrion is seen lurking in the corridor with a particularly troubled expression on his face. But considering he does not yet know about the blood link, everyone was wondering ‘why the long face?’
“It’s dangerous for everybody involved,” Tyrion actor Peter Dinklage explained in a behind-the-scenes video. “I’m sure [the sex] is good for both of them in the moment, but you don’t even get the relief of how beautiful it could be or should be.
“No, it’s not good – it should be, but it’s not. It’s Game of Thrones, there’s a long history of romance not ending well in this show.”
Game of Thrones is available to watch on Now TV.
