First Dates plans a spin-off set at a French hotel
First Dates is heading to France for a hotel-based spin-off.
Instead of inviting matched singletons to a restaurant dinner, the spin-off will see the couples’ dates set in the picturesque French countryside.
Series editor Adam Chapman said: “The hotel, whilst retaining all of the charm of the restaurant series, will give the viewer the chance to see dates develop into second dates answering that eternal question ‘what happens next.'”
However, despite First Dates moving abroad, maître d’ Fred Sirieix (the owner of the restaurant currently used on dates in the show) will still be involved.
Chapman added: “Maitre-D Fred will be on hand as always to deliver a bespoke first date like no other. The ‘First Dates Hotel’ will be the perfect antidote to the stresses of modern life; an oasis of romance where daters can concentrate on one thing and one thing only – finding love.”
First Dates has aired on Channel 4 since 2013. In the show, two strangers are invited to embark on a date in a London restaurant and later tell the camera their verdict on their date.
The show recently aired a celebrity version of the format, pairing celebs with complete strangers.
