Concept Art Gives us Sneak Peek at Captain America: Civil War
It’s time to pick a side. The incredible new concept artwork for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War highlights how the heroes of the Marvel universe will have to choose Team Captain or Team Iron Man in the feature.
The four new pieces of artwork for next year’s superhero showdown show where the various heroes fall in a dispute over government accountability for the Avengers.
On Team Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), the squad is made-up of his Avengers teammates Vision (Paul Bettany) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), in addition to long-time ally War Machine (Don Cheadle) and newcomer Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman).
Comparatively, their opposition – spearheaded by Captain America (Chris Evans) – comprises of his loyalists Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), ex-SHIELD agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), with Captain America potentially having the wildcard in his favour, since it looks like he’s also won over his former friend-turned-brainwashed HYDRA assassin Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).
Currently, we still don’t know where the new teenaged Spider-Man (to be played by newcomer Tom Holland) and the Scarlet Witch’s (Elizabeth Olsen) loyalties are, as they aren’t pictured in this first looks concept art.
The images first popped up on Comic Book Movie and YouTube, before star Jeremy Renner shared them on his official Twitter account, and mark the end of production for Captain America: Civil War in Germany, following an extended stay at Pinewood’s new Atlanta complex.
This next film will lead into future Marvel Studios epics Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok as the first of its Phase Three films.
Captain America: Civil War will storm into UK cinemas on April 29, 2016 before sweeping the US on May 6.
