Carice van Houten Doesn’t Think Jon Snow Is Dead
Good news, ‘Thrones fans. Actress Carice van Houten has stated that she doesn’t believe the fan favourite is dead.
Despite a very clear death scene, which saw Kit Harington’s character knifed repeatedly by his own men in a mutinous attack, many fans are certain Jon Snow will return.
While she is only one cast member, van Houten’s beliefs may be worth something as it is known in the Game of Thrones universe that her character, Melisandre, can bring characters back from the dead. One fan theory is that red priestess Melisandre will revive the fallen Lord Commander, and her timely arrival at Castle Black in the final episode of last season lends support to this theory.
van Houten joins Daenerys actress Emilia Clarke, who also suggested Jon Snow might not really be dead. Meanwhile, series director David Nutter and Arya Stark actress Maisie Williams think Snow is completely and utterly dead.
van Houten was speaking at this year’s London Film and Comic Con festival, held over the weekend in London. She also discussed fan backlash to her character’s actions in the last season, which saw Melisandre convince Stannis to burn his young daughter alive in brutally graphic scenes.
However, fans are reportedly fickle – van Houten also stated, “I’ve seen that on the internet; like I’ve seen stuff saying, ‘We’ll forgive you if you save him.'”
