Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga team up on ‘A Star is Born’ remake
Had enough of the remakes already? Too bad! Warner Bros is remaking A Star is Born. Again. For the fourth time. But on the plus side, it’s going to star Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. Allow us to tell you more…
Reimagining the 1937 film produced by David O. Selznick, which was subsequently remade in 1954 starring Judy Garland, and then again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand as its musical lead, Gaga will take on the role of the ingénue singer whose star rises as quickly as her troubled lover/mentor’s star is falling.
The film will also be the directorial debut for Cooper, who produced Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper in 2014.
This explains why Cooper and Gaga were papped together on a motorcycle ride to a restaurant earlier this year, as the two were clearly working out the role which was previously being held for Beyoncé.
“For those of us lucky enough to watch him work as an actor and producer, it has been clear that Bradley would make this transition to director”, says Warner Bros president of Creative Development and WW Production Greg Silverman. “We are honoured that he is doing it, here, at his home—Warner Bros.—and with Lady Gaga as a collaborator and co-star. The world is in for a treat as these great artists craft an all new vision of A Star is Born”.
