Bear Grylls: Mission Survive – meet the celebrities
Remember last year when there was all that hype about Bear Grylls making people drink their own pee? Yep? Well that show is back.
Testing the mental and physical limits of celebrities, Bear Grylls attempts to teach a new group vital survival skills. Grylls is joined by survival expert Megan Hine and former commando Scott Heffield and each week they help Bear to decide who to eliminate. Survival of the fittest indeed.
This year a whole new set of celebrities try their hand at survival in South Africa. Let’s meet the foolish brave volunteers.
Alex Scott
Right-back for Arsenal in the English FA WSL, Alex is used to fast-paced action and intense pressure. She signed on with Arsenal at the tender age of eight and in her career she has played for Birmingham City, Chicago Red Stars, Boston Breakers and the England team. In 2012 she competed in the London Olympics for Great Britain. She has also established a football academy for 16-19 year old female players.
Chelsee Healey
Best known for her characters on Waterloo Road and Casualty, Chelsee is an English actress. She gave a memorable performance as gobby student Janeece in Waterloo Road and rejoined the cast in 2010 as the school secretary. In 2011 Chelsee took part in the ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing and finished as the runner-up. She played “tea lady” Honey on Casualty between 2014-15. Appearances may be deceiving with this girl – in 2013 she took part in a Comic Relief challenge, canoeing the rapids of the Zambezi River. The team raised over £1 million.
Jason Gardiner
Resident baddie judge on Dancing on Ice, Jason is an Australian choreographer, singer and theatre producer. He has choreographed for West End shows such as Oklahoma and Anything Goes, as well as singers like Kylie Minogue and Cher.
Michelle Collins
Michelle is an actress and TV presenter probably best remembered for her roles in the soaps Eastenders and Coronation Street. For 10 years Michelle portrayed Cindy, on and off love interest of Ian Beale, on Eastenders before her character met an untimely death in 1998. After notable roles in The Illustrated Mum and Two Thousand Acres of Sky she returned to soaps in 2011 as Stella Price, landlady of the Rovers Return in Coronation Street.
Neil is an actor with many acclaimed roles under his belt including Tony in Men Behaving Badly and the deputy head in Waterloo Road. Younger viewers will recognise Neil by his voice as he provides many of the voices in children’s show Bob the Builder. This year he has joined the cast of Grantchester as Harding Redmond, a father grieving for a daughter who is found dead in suspicious circumstances.
Actress and singer Sam was discovered on BBC talent show, I’d Do Anything – a search for an actress to play Nancy in the West End musical Oliver! After coming third overall, Barks was cast as Éponine in Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre before taking on the role of Nancy in the Oliver! tour. She was plucked from the tour to portray Éponine in Cameron Mackintosh’s film of Les Mis, which earned her multiple award nominations and wins.
English football manager and player, Pearce currently plays for Longford AFC. He was the manager of the under-21 England team from 2007 to 2013 and also managed the Great Britain Olympic team. He is best known for his 12 years as a player (and club captain) for Nottingham Forest.
Bear Grylls: Mission Survive starts tonight on ITV at 9pm.
