BBC drops video of Tom Hiddleston in role as Sherlock’s other brother
Well, kinda… In light of rumours that Tom Hiddleston will appear in the new season of Sherlock as Benedict Cumberbatch’s brother, the AV geniuses at the BBC Store have put together an oh so tantalising supercut that teases what it would look like if the Night Manager star stopped in on Sherlock and Mycroft as the third Holmes brother.
The finale of Sherlock season 3 had hinted at the existence of a third Holmes sibling, with Mycroft saying: “I’m not given to outbursts of brotherly compassion. You know what happened to the other one”.
This was most recently followed by Mycroft actor Mark Gatiss posting a picture of himself with Tom Hiddleston and Amanda Abbington at San Diego Comic Con with the caption “Blud”, leading fans to speculate that Hiddleston could perhaps be stepping in to fill the mysterious fraternal role.

So, has the BBC subtly given some credence to the rumours by now splicing together scenes from Sherlock and The Night Manager to give the appearance of Hiddleston joining forces with Cumberbatch and Gatiss? Or are those cheeky scamps just looking to lure us into making BBC Store purchases?
Whatever the outcome, we’re enjoying the view from here very much.
Sherlock season 4 is set to premiere in 2017.
