Ant and Dec to sign new 3-year contract with ITV
Britain’s most famous presenting duo are set to remain on our screens for at least three more years.
Ant and Dec are poised to sign a new £30 million contract ITV, which will see them remain with the channel – and consequently with I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of
Here and Britain’s Got Talent for three more years.
Ant and Dec’s affiliation with ITV first began in 1994, when they appeared as guest presenters on short-lived children’s show Gimme 5. They later picked up more permanent hosting opportunities with SMTV Live and CD:UK. This decade, they are best known for hosting much of ITV’s most popular entertainment programming, including Britain’s Got Talent, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
The presenting duo have won an unprecedented fifteen consecutive Best Presenter awards at the National Television Awards.
Speaking about their new contract to the Mirror, Ant said: “Let’s be honest it is close. We have had people come and discuss stuff with us but we love ITV and all the programmes we make there and they want us to stay. Before we go to Oz we want to sort it out, yeah.”
Dec added: “We are not on the dotted line yet but we want to stay and they want us to stay. It is just ironing out all the bits and bobs. It will have to be signed before we go to Oz because then we will be at the end of the year and we are fairly close.”
Despite reports that the pair have been in talks over opportunities away from the channel, the pair reiterated their immediate attention is on ITV. Dec said: “The whole Netflix/Amazon thing, theatre tour and other stuff are not necessarily for right now. It is still being talked about but is hopefully in the short to medium term.”
